How do I choose the right size?

Our size chart shows the measurements of the finished coat, not your dog’s measurements. We recommend measuring your dog carefully and comparing those measurements with our size guide.

How do I measure my dog?

Follow our measuring guide carefully. Taking accurate measurements is the best way to ensure a great fit. If you’re unsure, just send us a message and we’ll happily help.

What if my dog is between sizes?

We always recommend choosing the larger size.

 

Can you make a coat to my dog’s measurements?

Yes. We offer a made-to-measure service for dogs that don’t fit our standard sizes. An additional charge applies.

Can I request a colour that isn’t on the website?

Possibly! We sometimes have additional fleece colours available. Just get in touch and we’ll let you know what’s currently possible.

How long will my order take?

Our turnaround varies throughout the year, usually between 2–6 weeks. Our current lead time is always shown in the banner at the top of our website.

Can I change my order after placing it?

Yes, as long as production hasn’t started. Please contact us as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to help.

Can I cancel my order?

Yes. Please email us with your order number as soon as possible. If we’ve already started making your order, we’ll discuss the options with you.

What are your Dino Coats made from?

Our Original Dino Coats are made from premium anti-pill fleece, chosen for its warmth, softness and durability.

Are your products handmade?

Yes. Every Barker & Browns product is handmade with care.

Where are your products made?

Most of our products are handmade by us in our two home workshops. During busy periods and for selected collections, we also work with a small local UK factory to help us keep up with demand.

Can I add a harness hole?

Yes. Harness holes are available on many of our coats as an optional extra.

Which coat is best for my dog?

Our Original Dino Coat is perfect for warmth, our Waterproof Dino Coat is ideal for wet weather, or you can choose to have your Dino coat lined with towel to dry your dog after walks, swimming or baths.(not available on ready-made coats)

Care

How do I wash my Dino Coat?

Please follow the care label inside your coat. Washing on a cool cycle will help keep it looking its best.

Will the fleece bobble?

We use premium anti-pill fleece. With the correct care, your coat should stay looking great for many years.

I found a loose thread. Is that normal?

Yes. Because every coat is handmade from lots of individual pieces, the occasional loose thread can appear during use. Simply trim it carefully with scissors - it won’t affect the strength or quality of your coat.

Shipping

How much is delivery?

We charge the current Royal Mail Tracked 24 delivery price.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship worldwide.

Will I have to pay customs or import charges?

International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes or import charges charged by their own country.

How long does delivery take?

UK orders are usually delivered within 1–2 working days after dispatch. International delivery times vary depending on the destination.

Can I track my parcel?

Yes. You’ll receive tracking details once your order has been dispatched.

Returns

Can I return my order?

Yes. Standard-sized items can be returned or exchanged within 14 days of receiving your order. Please contact us first so we can help. Unless your item is faulty or we’ve made an error, customers are responsible for the cost of return postage.

Can I return a made-to-measure coat?

As made-to-measure coats are created specifically for your dog, they aren’t normally returnable. However, if you have any concerns, please get in touch and we’ll always do our best to help.

What if my item arrives faulty?

Please contact us as soon as possible with photographs. If your item is found to be faulty or we’ve made an error with your order, we’ll work with you to resolve the problem quickly and cover any reasonable return postage costs where applicable.

 

I’ve ordered the wrong size. Can I exchange it?

Yes, provided the coat hasn’t been worn and is returned in its original condition. Customers are responsible for the cost of returning the original coat, and the replacement coat will be sent once the returned item has been received and checked.

What condition does my return need to be in?

We completely understand that it’s almost impossible to try a dog coat on without picking up the odd dog hair! However, returned items must be clean, unworn (other than trying on), and in a resaleable condition with no mud, strong odours, excessive hair, damage or signs of use. Returns that are not in a resaleable condition may not be eligible for a refund.

Why Barker & Browns?

Barker & Browns is named after Nicki’s beloved Labradors Bella the “Barker” and Freddie and Frank, the “Browns.” They inspired everything that followed.

Why dinosaurs?

Nicki’s son was dinosaur mad, and when the first spikes were added to a dog coat, there was only one thing it could become… a Dino Coat!

Who makes the coats?

We’re a small  business run by just the two of us, Nicki and Gill, and we’re involved in every order from start to finish.

Do you attend events like Crufts?

Yes! We love meeting our customers and their dogs, and you’ll usually find us at Crufts each year.

Are you a small business?

Yes! Barker & Browns is run by just the two of us.

Do you make everything to order?

A lot of our products are made to order, we also stock many ready-made coats

 We also have small batches of selected products made by a local UK factory.

Why do you have fewer colour choices now?

As we work from home, storage space is limited. By reducing our core colour range to 15 colours, we’re able to keep stock levels manageable while still offering thousands of different colour combinations.

How do you reduce waste?

We save as many fabric offcuts as possible and donate them, helping to minimise waste.

What are Hidden Hearts?

Hidden Hearts are optional £1 fabric hearts sewn inside your coat. Every penny of that £1 goes directly to your chosen charity.

Which charities do you support?

You can choose between Together Anything Is Pawsible, which helps provide assistance dogs for children, and Rescue Pugs With Lily, which rescues dogs from the meat trade in China.

How much of my £1 is donated?

100% of your £1 donation goes directly to your chosen charity.
